What kind of country have we become? I was in the car with my uncle the other day, a retired union printer, who was incensed on the way collective bargaining was taken away by the Republicans. I asked if he thought the teachers were paid enough and if their compensation packages reflect their worth in our society. He was all about the union busting, it didn’t matter what the underlying issue was.

He is by far not alone in his thinking. How many people are deluded into thinking that everyone deserves to be paid $100K for 9 months of work and endless pension and healthcare benefits? I don’t care about the teacher that changed your life, this is too much.

Tenure has no place in elementary or high school. Public sector workers don’t deserve more money, on average, than private sector workers. If you want more compensation now, pay for your own retirement.  What a deal teaching is, there’s not ONE teacher I ever knew that didn’t cite summers off as an incentive to take the job.  If you wanna work like a kid, get paid like a kid.

Are we STILL racists as the presidents actual body of work pile up and shows him to be a divisive, selfish, capricious politician.  As he golfs away hours of his presidency and the government amasses more and more power over us, I’m interested, is this a good thing to you?

The irresponsibility, the childish violence fantasies toward Republicans, conservatives and people who don’t think like them is breathtaking. I just watched a video of a group that was wanted to recall Clarence Thomas for some reason, or Kill the Koch Brothers, or lynch Thomas or do SOME damage to some right-winger. But WHY???

When I left for my freshman year in college I was a liberal through and through. My parents, both Republicans, told me that that will change sooner or later. As an art student, I called B.S. on that estimation and got in the car.

It took me about a MONTH to shrug off the utopian notions I had about my fellow man and the art community in general. The liberal hippie types there were the worst mooches and crybabies I’d ever seen! They had no shame, no remorse when they would make complete idiots of themselves. When they’d screw up, which was often, they’d ratchet up their indignation and petulance.

It left such a bad taste in my mouth, I had to move out of the house to get away from the poison that until a few months before, I freely took part in. Now when i see grown men and women wishing death, pain and worse on people with smiles on their faces, I wonder where the hatred comes from.

I’m sure these people do not attend any mainstream churches, volunteer in their communities or give a crap about anything that happens outside the reach of their outstretched arms, but the anger…

An example that plays itself out every day: After the first full week of classes I was sleeping when a guy in our house starts pounding on the bedroom doors at two in the morning rousting the other 7 of us. He says that he was wronged by some guy at the bar and he’s gonna fight. Fair enough, I liked fighting so I and the other got up and got dressed and went out to the field to meet this other guy.

Well, the other guy showed up with HIS friends and our guy started talking a blue streak to avoid the fight like a pussy. Everyone else was expected to knuckle up except the instigator, who, as it happened, hit on the other guy’s fiance. Typical welfare thinking…

The time is now to rid ourselves of these hypocrites and worse. I know that many, if not all members of congress bring back bacon, but they take it away first!!! THEY ARE STEALING FROM YOU!!! And you are bending over and taking it.

People, you CAN’T be this docile. Our fathers and grandfathers sacrifice so much… too much for us to simply piss it away.

Maybe we just had it too easy. Easy come, easy go. Maybe we are guilty about having so much as a nation. Get over it. We are first and foremost a nation and we need to protect out future generations or waste away to third world despotism. Today we see Democrats and UNELECTED bureaucrats consolidating their power and we are handing it over to them. Stop the madness!!!

As a baby boomer, among other things I did right, was to pay (100%) for the college educations of two children, save as I worked (so did my wife) and retire with no change in lifestyle at age 62. My wife and I did this by living within our means and using credit very wisely. The only debt we have now is our house and we could pay that off from our investments account but have decided not to.

Yes, baby boomers have a plan: to live responsibly and leave no debt for our children. If you need “someone” to blame, go pick on congress. After all, we have the enormous national debt because of their irresponsible actions. But then we put the turkeys in office so it may well be our fault. But again, my wife and I did it right and many other baby boomers have also. Age does bring wisdom … if you live long enough. Too bad the “gemme” generation are so lost in what they feel they deserve as opposed to what they need to actually work for.

It’s amazing how people take this personally and seriously.  In fact, I should have mentioned how selfish Doug’s answer was in my reply to him:

Nah, It’s YOUR generation.  Perhaps not you directly, and congratulations on not burdening us any further.  You boomers (as a class) lived like assholes when you were younger:  Free drugs and no chauffeurs was your clarion call, yet now want US to pay for your “live for now” attitudes.  Your generation has been the WORST for the nation and the WORST for your own children.  Gimme Gimme Gimme was your legacy and now those of you who wormed yourselves into government are holding everyone to account.  Thanks a million.

Of course I was around when Carl Sagan and a host of scientists were telling us that the world is cooling at an alarming rate, and that it is just a matter of time before the oceans would freeze, along with most of our fresh water supply.  Many of those same scientists further confuse me by their 180-degree prediction of warming now.

How are we suffering from global warming if there was no warming in the past 11 years?  Are we all THAT gullible?  Why am I not profiting directly from this mass stupidity?  I need to find a way to dupe the masses into paying me a small amount of money to fix some cardinal sin of their consumerist existance.

Hey, I know!  Send me just $1, and I’ll plant enough trees to offset your farts for a year!

With the recent spate of killings of bushels of people, the usual suspects would have us believe that the right answer would be to disarm the people. When only the cops have guns, we’ll all be safe. Holy shit, are they serious? The scarey answer is, yes.

My theory: People who would have the people disarm are the most misogynistic people on Earth. You really have to hate your mother, sister, wife, daughter or girlfriend to want law-abiding people to not have guns. Do you know what will stop these beloved women from becoming victims should a beneficiary of a liberal early prison release program try to celebrate his newfound freedom with your loved one? That’s right, a gun.

There are not many women I couldn’t whip in a fight, an I’m of average size and build. Had I been pumping iron in a penitentiary, dreaming of all the women society was forcing me to force myself on, I’d be a monster in a few years with absolutely NO compunction to do the right thing. After all, the Man took my freedom, I have to repay the injustice.

And when I come knocking, really, who’s gonna stop me? The only definitive answer is Messrs. Smith and Wesson.

Lookee, The Supreme Court ruled that the cops have no mandate to protect anyone. You’re on your own. For all the talk by the Democrats and Liberals out there, NO ONE IS GOING TO STOP THE MENACE! You have to do it yourself.

I fear for the safety of my loved ones. Sometimes I fear for MY safety. We are moral people, yet sometimes we have to defend ourselves with deadly force. What person is willing to deprive me of that right? Will they say it as plainly as that?

The Turks, as a class are a worthless group of miscreants and their history is replete with tales of barbarism and butchery. The diaspora that followed the genocide cast Armenians and ethnic Greeks to the four winds. Thankfully, my strain washed up on these shores and became productive, accomplished people. But I do feel for those who didn’t get out.

That time (we all share some version of this story) when we all surrounded one of our friends and made him eat a bug, or drink the bong water or whatever other disgusting thing we thought up. We cajoled that poor sap into doing it…”do it, it will be so cool…we’ll be your friend… you can be part of the group….. All smiles and saccharine until you did it than a resounding EWWWWWWW you ACTUALLY did it! rises in the air. Too late to take it back, you’d been HAD. Well this is exactly what the other “developed” nations of teh world are doing.
